  • A must play for Fate fans

Look, I’m not going to get into the nitty gritty gacha mechanics because it’s pretty normal stuff. Your luck determines who you get. I myself haven’t been lucky, but that’s not what we’re here to discuss. Yeah you could write this off as another “waifu collector” game, but if you do that you’re really discounting what this game has that most other games of the ilk don’t have. A good story. Look it’s a slow start, and you might feel like it’s odd and quirky sometimes but once you get past all the early singularities and reach Camelot and beyond, you’ve hit story telling gold. (Nasu took control) I won’t say anything because well, spoilers, but the story gets good! There’s a real reason why two singularities are being made into an anime TV series and an anime movie series. Oh and this game has a solid and sturdy roadmap. Since this is the English release, we can see the future. (JP is ahead of us by two years) And I can safely say that we have a lot of content inbound. One last thing, fate fans, if you’ve ever wanted to be able to surround yourself with servants you love and not have to worry about them leaving you forever, look no further.

Battle mechanic is deep but it’s dragged down by repetitiveness and the long unstoppable animations. No auto battle, so everyone have to actually repetitively tab the same thing every time before you actually fight. If you like to press the same button to use instant skills every battle before the fight even starts then this game is for you. They don’t even have a preset system where you can set up what skill to use on x turn. No complain about the gacha because its the point of the game, but when the free part (battle) is so repetitive it ruins the game experience.

Everything in this game is great but I personally dislike Mash. I don’t really want to see her every single time with her overly abusive usage of senpai. I’d rather have another choice like emiya, Gilgamesh or Alteria Pendragon

I really enjoy this game but I am on an iPhone XS Max and I still get a lot of lag. Why is that? This phone is a power house I should have frame rate drops or lag. Also why is the screen so small? I have all this empty space?? Will this be fixed? Will the game be optimized for the iPhone XS Max?

I’ve never written a review before but I’ve read a lot of comments on this game and felt like I needed to give my honest opinion and suggestions as well. I really enjoy this game, I haven’t had it for a full year but I can’t put it down. This game has 2 types of summons: friend summon gives you your staple for the beginning of the game with 1-3 star servants and saint quartz gives you 3-5 star servants. I’ve read a lot of comments about these summons and while it is true that you don’t need 4 or 5 star servants, it is nice to have some because some of them have really nice skills and NPs (decreasing enemy charge gauge, applying invincible to ALL of your servants on the field, increasing ALL of your servants NP gauge on the field, restoring health to ALL servants on the field, stunning all enemies, etc) and it can cost a lot of money and take a ton of summons to get even one 4 star or 5 star servant. It is also frustrating when you do a saint quartz summon and get all 3 star servants that you already have. A plus is that you can get saint quartz by completing weekly missions and logging in each day and through completing main story quests. Also the game is full of stories and side events that will give you a limited time 4 star servants just by completing the event story. You do have to wait for your AP to recover before continuing to take on a quest sometimes and that can be frustrating for someone addicted to the game as well. Bottom line is if star rating defines a character for you, and you don't have a good amount of money that you’re willing to spend, then this game probably isn’t for you, but if you’re patient and like strategy games, you’ll probably enjoy this game a lot! :)
  • Servant rate drop

    3
    By rbgfacesuperior
I love the game and all the servants but the game needs to increase the 4/5* servant rate up by a bit then 0.002 percent.
  • Wast of money and time

    By jimmmy hinnry
The game completely screws you over by only allowing you to have weak Servants unless you drop pound after pounds of dollars bills. And even then you only have a 1 percent chance of getting a five star and it says that the craft essence is a 1 percent also but 5 craft essence are much more common then 5 star Servants

Playing this game is insufferable ever since I upgraded my phone. The animations lag like crazy, NP drags on forever and makes me genuinely enjoy the game less. I really like the game and would love to be able to have it run normally again. It’s the only game that lags on this phone.
  • Not your average gacha

    5
    By anssassssss
Fate/Grand Order at a glance seems like just another gacha game of a popular series designed to solely milk it’s fanbase of their money, and honestly it does that job fantastically, but the approach it takes is quite different. In comparison to other gachas F/GO’s cast of characters is actually quiet small for a gacha game with only roughly 230 servants in JP as of now, but unlike most gachas nearly all of the cast is extremely memorable, and with a memorable cast comes a great story to match, though it struggles a bit in the earlier singularities by the third singularity it picks up and by the fifth it hits like an emotional truck. It’s important to mention that each and every character is viable with their own niche, sometimes it’s more optimal with team composition of low rarity units with great synergy than to just pull out your 5 stars.

I love the game but I would just wish that the servants on the Japanese version we are the same as the ones on The English version some of them don’t head to the attack or style as the Japanese version but it’s OK I guess I will just make it more funner and cooler.

I have no idea how a game as huge as FGO (at least in Japan) does not have iPhone X/XR/XS full screen support? I love this game to death but cannot stand seeing the blue background bars on each side of the game.

So I’m going to be honest. Anyone complaining about rates needs to really sit down and stop talking. Ignore their salt ridden reviews because I will say what should be an accurate rep of the game. It’s a fun card based game where you spend in game currency to try and get characters you want. You will get a free 4 star unit and will be given said currency enough to try and try again. While yes it is hard to get 5 star units, I’d say you will eventually get one. Everyone I know, including free to play friends, have gotten a 5 star. So basically it’s a fun game just with some folks who are salt ridden because they didn’t get their favorite character and want to take out their rage here.
  • Pretty decent game

It’s a game where u can relax and grind all the time. You never run out of things to do. The only problem it has it’s the gacha. It’s rate are so small and it’s been almost a year since I’ve gotten a 5 star. Think about it. It’s rate are that bad. I roll ever so 4 times a month since earning the crystals are hard enough but any where you roll is just too hard to get anything at all. Fix the rates and I’m sure this game would be higher in the list of role playing games by far.
  • Scam and waste of time

    1
    By Poor ripe off
There are 5 star summons you have to spend real money on and it’s full bull.... have to spend hard earned cash to buy quartz and can’t use free ones on new year 5 star summon. It’s supposed to be special time of the year and you just take a big dump on it and try to make people spend money for gambling. A lot of games are giving discounts and your jacks up the price to make you pay for quartz because your greedy and want to milk people for money because you can’t use free quartz. Your company so far are not for the people and just for your self and should be shut down and taken over by fair non scam people who know how the new year events and other should work.
  • Installs but never updates

    1
    By steven jobinson
You can even reinstall the game and be in decent WiFi and have other games download and update, but the in-app update never works. It just sits at 0% until you leave the app, which it then tells you to restart app or retry the WiFi connection. You can attempt the latter to have the download progress jump some %, and just keep leaving the app the see the install progress, but the game never updates at 100% and restarting the app resets the update progress. TL;DR- Right now it’s literally unplayable because of the in-app update never actually updating.
  • One of my favorites of all time

As a longtime Fate fan that has been playing the English release since the minute it came out (literally), I can solidly say that over 550 days later, this has been one of my favorite games of all time. Not just mobile games either: ALL games. Maybe it's largely due to the fact that I love the franchise so much. Even so, I've gotten massive amounts of enjoyment from the game and look forward to several more years of servants, singularities, and events.
  • Enjoying but Prices Too High

    3
    By Mando8480
I’d like to give this game a 5 star but regardless I’m enjoying the game, I’d also like to invest but the pricing for saint quartz is just ridiculously expensive. It’s cheaper to buy a video game for a console than it is to invest in this mobile app game. I’d definitely invest money if it wasn’t so expensive, after doing the math. The game itself is great for a gacha game. I have also enjoyed watching the anime series’. I’ve built my own team strategically to never fail with the cards I have been dealt. I have very solid offensive and defensive strategies that make this game fun for me. If the prices were lower, I’d definitely invest more. Anyway, back to playing.

  • Story good, but game is p2w

    1
    By Cudhjfnfjfjzndjjzwbn
F2P players exist to create a sense of superiority for the p2p players, which in the end net the revenue for the game itself. The gacha rate is low, the gems are hard to come by (they distinguish between paid and free gems, some gachas are only available to paid gems), and there is no safety net at all. For a 10 pull you get a 4 star guarantee, but it’s not guaranteed you get a servant. You can get a 4 star craft essence, which essentially means nothing. While you could grind through the game with 3, 2, or even 1 star servants, it’s hardly enjoyable for a game. Unless you are a masochist and enjoy getting your envy farmed by whales, I’d say stay the hell away from this game. The only exception is if you are into the story, then I guess it’s possible to tolerate being a peasant or start getting milked for your money.
  • Best gacha game there is.

    5
    By NinjaDeathStrike
F:GO is the best mobile game I’ve ever played. You can spend if you want, but it’s extremely generous even if you play 100% free. The incorporation of the support system lets your friends help you out and means people that *do* spend a lot of money are valued allies instead of frustrating foes. Most importantly, the story is incredible. A mobile game has no business being this good. The finale of the main story was on par with some triple-A titles I’ve played.
  • Amazing RPG Game

    4
    By AnimalA23
I’ve completed all of the available singularities so far, and I am absolutely enjoying the story. Unlike most gacha games, which exist just to make money without putting an ounce of effort into the actual plot or storyline, FGO has a well-written story that keeps me playing to the end—especially the last 3 singularities, where the story quality significantly increases. Now, I’m not going to deny that this game is an obvious cash-grabber. Yes, the 5* rates are less than 1% and the prices to buy in game currency (Saint Quartz) are ridiculously expensive. However, rarity does NOT equal effectiveness. While it’s true that the 4* and 5* servants generally have better stats than lower ranking servants, it does not mean that those lower servants are useless. For example, even though I have quite a few golden servants, the famous 3* lancer Cu Chulainn is the servant I use the most. Why? Despite his low ranking, using the right strategy and skills, he can become nearly invincible. Another example of an excellent lower ranking servant is the 2* Hans Christian Andersen, who is a great support that can easily perform at the same effectiveness of other 4* and 5* casters. Even the 1* Archer Arash is very useful when farming, as his Noble Phantasm, when leveled up, can nuke waves of enemies, although it does kill him. You are given a free 10x Friend Point Summon every day, where you can get 1-3* servants and craft essences (which can be very useful, despite what others might say). In fact, there are several 4* and 5* servants that are worse than some 3* servants, like Stheno, and even saber Artoria (Altria). Yes, I’m talking about the Saber we know and love from Fate/Stay Night. She is indeed one of the worst 5* sabers you can get, and even her 4* alter counterpart is better. Don’t be intimidated by the ridiculously low gacha rates. I’m mostly F2P, and I’ve got a good amount of 5* servants (after saving up for weeks). The NA server is 2 years behind the JP server, so you can use that to your advantage to save up for servants coming out in the future (and you definitely should save). Even if you have terrible luck, you are not only guaranteed a 4* servant in your starter roll, but you also are able to get FREE 4* servants from various events throughout the year. It’s impossible to not have a single golden servant after playing for a month or two. Also, the game lets you pick a support servant from other players to use in quests, so even if you don’t get your ideal waifu or husbando, you can still use them as your support to get through battles. Using the right strategy and servants, you can easily get through the story at a good pace. Just a fair warning though, you might be getting through the story nice and quickly, but Camelot (6th singularity) will probably bring that to a halt. Make sure you properly level your Archer servants before then, as Camelot is the most difficult singularity in my opinion. To sum, you don’t need 5* servants to get through the game. Of course, it may be tempting, seeing your waifu get a rate-up with an incredible .7% rate, but in the end, don’t expect to get a 5* servant in a few pulls, (although rarely, I’ve gotten gold servants on free Summon Tickets that are given out weekly). My only complaint is about the terribly low drop rates of ascension materials. I have to grind hours and even days just to get enough to finally ascend my servant who’s been stuck at lvl 70 for weeks. In the end, FGO is a fun game but requires lots of patience, farming, and time put into it. I’m satisfied with the servants I have, as I already have my 3 favorite husbandos: Cu Chulainn (3*), Bedivere (3*), and Merlin(5*).

Played the game since release and spent a decent amount. The app become unresponsive one day and I was tapping on the screen to back out, it performed a multi summon for some reason and customer support refuses to help me out. They are basically saying that’s too bad and not our fault... what kind of company says that to their user?? This has caused me to no longer support them unless they fix this issue.

So I was playing one day and my device froze and I thought it happens but this time it was frozen longer than usual. I closed the application and reopened it and it still would not load for me. That is when it gave me the suggestion to clear my cache and uninstall and reinstall the game. I did but when I got back into the game I had lost everything and made me start over. There was no option to start where you left off and that was it.
  • Great Game with some fixable flaws

    By Dragespear
This game is great for the people who love Fate. It has the servants from each of their respective shows and games including a multitude of new ones. The only issue with the game is the chance of getting the higher rarity characters. (I’m talking about you SSR’s) But this issue can be fixed with just an increase in drop rates. Doesn’t have to be a lot but at least to where it is actually obtainable.

I live in England/UK where this app isn't available in the store, but seeing as the game is free in the US store I am able to use a random location and it's info to download free apps in the store, however whenever there is an update I have to change back to the US store (I always change back to UK after each update). Would really appreciate if you guys would attempt to get it into the UK as the Fate series have fans there too.

One thing that I look for in a mobile game is is if it pushes you to making in app purchases. Thankfully FGO isn’t in that category. It rarely pushes you to pay more money to try and summon more servants. As for the story it’s quite engaging and fun. The characters are usually quite endearing. I’ve lost count of the he times I’ve wanted to break through the screen and hug Mash. In all honesty I’d recommend this game if you’re wanting an accessible entry to the Fate franchise or if you’re already into it.
  • Understand this.

I have been playing 450 days. Obviously gameplay is good if I played this long. -Other Gacha games hand you free 5 star/7star/SSR grade units, this game DOES NOT. You roll for them and it's luck of the draw. And therefore, your servants are actually of value. Luck of the draw. -High Speed Servers: Minimal load times and if you do a full download of the game through game options on wifi (scroll down to the middle), you can operate this game on very minimal data. Minimal downtime also. -You can most definitely survive on the more common three star units and 4 stars. It will take a little more strategizing but I survived on my starting 2 starting 4 stars and 3 stars for three months before i rolled my first SSR.
